Why should I consider a complimentary session?
Engaging the services
of a professional coach is a very important investment in your
future success. For that reason, I recommend that all of my clients
start with a 30 minute complimentary session. During this time,
you can determine if you would be comfortable working with me
and can learn more about what to expect from a coaching relationship.
If you decide that you would like to continue with individual
coaching sessions or a coaching series, we can establish a schedule,
and expectations.
What can I expect in the coaching sessions?
Typically, the coaching process begins before the first
session. Frequently I will send you information to complete or
questions to think through prior to our first session. This will
provide me with additional background and will help to advance
your thinking.
Coaching sessions themselves
can be in-person or over the phone. During the conversations,
I will listen to you, ask questions about your situation, and
present alternative ways to handle or view a situation. At the
end of each session, we will create action plans and discuss
ways to overcome potential barriers to action.
Is there a difference
between coaching and therapy?
Yes! Therapy focuses
on healing or resolving personal pain, dysfunction or conflict.
Many times, therapist will work with you to help you resolve
past issues that are affecting your current well-being.
Coaching focuses on where you
are today and where you would like to be in the future. This
involves helping you to set goals, remove barriers to success,
and achieving the outcome that you desire in your life.
How is talking to a coach
different from talking things over with a good friend?
Many times a friend
is unable to be totally objective about your situation (and that's
a good thing! A true friend is someone you can always count on
to be on your side!) However, if you are trying to resolve a
problem or identify areas of improvement, you need someone who
can be objective.
A coach is an objective person
who is:
- Skilled in listening to what
you say and what you don't say
- Experienced in asking different
types of questions to challenge your thinking
- Able to introduce new perspectives
for you to consider
- In a position to hold you
accountable for what you say that you want to do
